I've made a mock-up to illustrate my ideas about the next-gen terminal experience!

Featuring:
• the pathbar
• username, hostname and git branch displayed in the UI, shrinking the shell prompt back to just a $
• commands as cards
• syntax highlighting, including graying out the output a bit to differentiate it from commands themselves
• autocompletion (displayed in a native widget)
• built-in error handling options
• the time each command took (on the right)

If you haven’t heard about it already, an all new beautiful iOS Mastodon app is now available on the App Store. 🎉

It contains 3D Touch, Today and Share extensions, Siri Shortcuts, iMessage Stickers, a Watch app, and so much more!

If you've ever wondered how books get onto archive.org, this is how

Suggestion for Mastodon (to prevent eventual gMastodon instance): cap instance size at 100 - 1,000 account by default. Make it a social contract for instances not to federate with instances greater than that limit.

Or, a few years from now, say hello to “gMastodon”. (See history of email and the Web for a lesson in the future.)

That said, we might already be on that path.

RT @theJeremyVine@twitter.com: This is incredible.
Banksy artwork "Girl With Red Balloon" is auctioned at Sotheby's.
Bidding goes to £860,000 at which point it is declared sold.
Suddenly alarm goes off and shredder starts INSIDE FRAME.
Picture drops through shredder and is destroyed.

The latest version of #Chrome doesn't delete Google cookies even when you ask it to delete all cookies:

It also does some dodgy stuff with logging people into Google:

Chrome is made by Google, who make vast amounts of money from invading people's privacy.

The best easy-to-use alternative right now is probably Firefox:

The 2018.12 update (due by the end of the year) will apparently include #ActivityPub support :blobcheer: :blobaww:

You can try Friendica out right now on instances such as squeet.me, libranet.de, nerdica.net and others:

You: English pronunciation is random and lawless. It is a chaos language no one can make sense of.
Me:

(Subtooting a few terrible articles about terrible people threatening to quit Linux.)

What happens when the jerks & MRAs leave your project? Good people who were driven away by those cretins start to show.

There are MANY more good people repelled by these idiots than there are idiots.

Assholes are not valuable. You'll get more done, produce better work, and have more fun without them.
